An Interview With Dr. Monica Crooks , A Qualified Dentist For Moms In Rancho Cordova

1. What are some examples of cosmetic dentistry procedures?

Cosmetic Dentistry pertains to anything that improves the appearance of your teeth.  So cosmetic procedures include tooth colored fillings, pure porcelain crowns and bridges, porcelain veneers, Lumineers, Invisalign orthodontics, 6-Month Smile orthodontics, gum line recontouring, Valplast removable partial dentures and teeth whitening.

2. Why would someone need or be interested in cosmetic dentistry?

Anyone who does not like something about his or her smile is a candidate for cosmetic dentistry. Anyone who hides his/her smile due to discolored, misshapened, misaligned teeth should consider cosmetic dentistry.  ....Broken teeth, crooked teeth, chipped teeth, bucked teeth, gapped teeth ....anything that makes one feel ashamed of one' s smile can be corrected with cosmetic dental procedures.

3. How has technology improved in cosmetic dentistry?

There are so many reasonably priced, natural looking options now, there is hardly any reason to do any dental procedure that is not "cosmetic" or natural looking.

4. How can cosmetic dentistry change my life?

Your smile is what you show to the world.  It conveys, happiness, health, success, confidence, openness, approachability.  People notice a beautiful smile.  Studies have shown that people with attractive smiles are more successful socially and professionally.  As we only have one life that we are sure of, why not give ourselves every positive possibility in life?  Be the best you can be!

5. How natural will my cosmetic dentist make my teeth look?

The point of cosmetic dentistry is natural looking results. Success therefore, is defined by whether or not you are happy with the result.  If you have veneers done on your two front teeth, they should not look like two white Chiclets stuck on your teeth. They should attractively blend with the rest of your teeth so that no one can tell that you even have veneers.

6. Will people notice that I had this procedure done?

If it is done cosmetically, esthetically, naturally and attractively, then all anyone should notice is that you look terrific! "What a gorgeous smile you have!", "Your teeth are beautiful!"  "You have the most dazzling white smile I have ever seen!"  No one should say, "Hey, your crowns are stunning!" or "Your dentist did a great job on those 6 veneers!"
