How important is your smile?
The most important focal point of the face is perhaps the smile, even more striking than your eyes and any other feature on your face. Your smile is also the most powerful medium to communicate and influence others. It greatly increases your self-esteem. There are several key factors that make the smile beautiful and attractive. Having straight and bright teeth are perhaps the two most important starting factors in having a great smile. The shape and form of teeth also play a big role in an attractive smile. When we do smile make-over or enhancements for our patients, we see their life transform, barriers break down, and something magical happens that I can' t really explain in words.
Who is a good candidate for cosmetic dentistry?
There really aren' t any contraindications for cosmetic dentistry. People who don' t have straight teeth, have gaps in between teeth, or simply have discolored teeth and want to brighten their smile are all great candidates for cosmetic dentistry. If you don' t like the way your teeth look in the mirror, or in pictures, or if you simply cover your mouth when you smile or laugh, you are probably a good candidate for a cosmetic evaluation and possible smile enhancement. Of course you need to have your dentist do a full mouth examination and make sure you don' t have any cavities, gum disease or infections. If you do, that generally needs to be treated first.
Is cosmetic dentistry worth the time and the cost?
You should ask this questions from the people who get the smile they always wanted. When I give a mirror to a patient to see his or her new smile, I often hear one word, "Whow !" and sometimes there is silence, followed by tears of joy and a "Thank you !" To me this moment is priceless.
How long will my new smile last?
Depending on what the procedure is, the materials chosen by the patient, and the follow up care by the patients, a new smile makeover is a long lasting procedure. Since every individual is unique, their care of the smile is also customized to the individual. We always provide our patients with the follow up instructions and recommendations on how to maximize the longevity of their new smile.
